The University of Arkansas is a public school that was founded in 1871 as the Arkansas Industrial University. Its name was changed to The University of Arkansas in 1899. Some of its most notable areas of study are architecture, agriculture, creative writing, history, and business programs. There are nearly 20,000 students enrolled in the school, which covers 345 acres in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering

The Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering program at the University of Arkansas is a joint program with the Graduate and Engineering Schools. It is designed to assist students in developing an in depth knowledge of the field of mechanical engineering they choose to pursue. Not just learning to have only a working knowledge of their field, they will also learn to become innovators and experts in the field. They will also further their communication skills so they can communicate their knowledge effectively through the use of oral presentations as well as written publications.

Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering

This program will enable the student to pursue their education in their chosen field or subfield of mechanical engineering in a more in depth manner. Students are typically taught to have the ability to identify pertinent research problems and then formulate a research plan and develop the skills to execute the plan and analyze the results. This will help the student prepare for a successful career in the industry and also the ability to go on farther by teaching in a top university or doing research in one of the top laboratories.

Master of Science in Civil Engineering

The Master of Science in Civil Engineering program is designed to help students create a good solid foundation in the field of civil engineering. Students take courses in geotechnical, environmental, transportation, and structural engineering. These courses help present "real world" applications as well as conceptual and theoretical basics. This aides in developing the student's skills in foundation, earthwork, and embankment design and analysis, water, wastewater, and waste handling and treatment, as well as highway facility design and operation, structural design and analysis. This program will prepare the student to pursue a license as a Professional Engineer. Students who complete this course of study will also be prepared to go on farther with their studies.
