Most Affordable PhD Schools Online, according to NCES

Earning a doctoral degree online is possible from many schools and institutions. Some schools may require students to participate in both an internship and a residency as part of the degree program. Internships may be designed to give students hands-on experience required by their degree while residencies are typically designed to allow students and faculty to connect. In some schools, the residency can last as long as a few weeks or a long as a summer or even longer.

According to data provided by the National Center for Education Statistics, the following schools provide a doctoral degree in the research, scholarship and professional practice entirely through distance learning and have been ranked according to their 2010-11 tuition and fees, after deducting discounts and allowances.
