University of California - San Francisco School of Nursing:

The school offers a number of undergraduate and graduate programs for aspiring nurses and for those who already have years of professional nursing experience. Master of Science in Nursing:

This degree program is for students who are already Registered Nurses or who have undergraduate degrees in nursing. Students will choose an area of concentration, such as midwifery, education, or nurse practitioner. Students begin with a core education in nursing topics, such as counseling, health promotion, biology, and method. Students then work closely with faculty advisors who help them pave the way to their career goals through advanced research and hours of clinical study and fieldwork. Students who complete this program become nursing leaders, hold administrative positions, or go on to apply to PhD degree programs.

PhD in Nursing:

This program is for students who already have master degrees in nursing and would like to further explore and research key issues in today's nursing professions. Students will begin by declaring a particular area of concentration. Students then take courses in core nursing education and further explore and research key topics that were covered in the master programs. Student work closely with faculty advisors to complete PhD dissertations, which are then presented and defended before an academic panel. Students who complete this program hold high-level administrative and state positions and also continue research and teach in colleges and universities.
