A recent graduate nurse from FAMU stuck in Florida without a job in sight and wants to work in Georgia?
Any reciprocity on licensing between GA & FL? Or do you have to take exams & get GA license? If covered by reciprocity, go ahead and apply noting FL license & reciprocity. If no reciprocity, note FL license & application for GA license is being processed. Put that info in your cover letter.
What experience do you have? Rotations in school? What else? Even if you can get in some volunteer work, it will help.
Check out other states' requirements as well! And see about nearby universities to places where you apply to see about getting into BSN program while you're working. - Hi. Which University in Florida is better for Nursing??
University of Florida is probably the best but it is hard to get into nowadays. They have stricter entrance standards for freshmen and transfer students and have even capped the numbers for freshmen and transfers. And most likely, you will not very much financial aid at UF unless you are in the top 10% of your class and even then there is a lot of competition between students over that financial aid. Your only hope is that your parents are alumni that donate a lot of money to UF or if you parent works in upper administration at UF.
UCF and USF also have good nursing programs and a solid track record at putting out good nurses.
If money is no object, then I would recommend UF or University of Miami. - nursing job question? There's a nursing shortage everywhere. All you have to do is pay the fee to transfer your license to NY. You would be trained at one of their hospitals as a new-grad just like you would have in FL. I really don't think it's going to be that difficult for you to find work. The longest thing would be to transfer your license. If you Google the NY board of nursing, you will find out the contact information so you can ask them about getting a NY license.
