The University of Southern Maine is proud to be home to the only advanced training program for school psychology in all of northern New England. The field of psychology is seeing an increase in the number of children, adolescents, and families that must seek its services, and this requires that young scholars and experts have a place to receive the proper training to allow them to provide comprehensive psychological services to children and adolescents while they are enrolled in the school system.
Ph.D in School Psychology
The doctoral program in School Psychology at the University of Southern Maine seeks to provide candidates with an integrated field-based training experience. When they enroll in the program, students will be introduced to the entire spectrum of child and adolescent behaviors, including cognitive, social, and emotional. Students will learn to develop and analyze instructional methods, and how to evaluate the effects and impact of teacher-student interactions and classroom environments.
