University of South Dakota’s Graduate Psychology Programs

The University of South Dakota is proud to be home to one of South Dakota’s only fully implemented psychology programs that offer degrees from the bachelor through the doctoral level. Ranked among the nation’s top graduate psychology programs in the nation by U.S. News and World report, students who choose to continue their education in this program will have the chance to work with highly specialized faculty, both inside and outside their department, to further their own course of individual research. The program has been fully accredited by the American Psychological Associated since 1971.

Ph.D in Clinical Psychology

Based firmly on the scientist-practitioner model of psychologist training, the Clinical Psychology program is designed to enhance student skills in the area of combining theory, science, and practice throughout their entire career. The program is also intended to train students how to function in a variety of professional settings, including academic research, clinical practice and academic teaching. Candidates will emerge from this program as ethical and responsible clinical psychologists that are able to convey a respect for individual and cultural differences in their community, and in the contributions they are able to make in the scientific realm.
