West Virginia University’s Graduate Programs

The graduate program for psychology at West Virginia University is highly competitive. Each year, hundreds of well qualified students apply for one of the program’s areas of specialization, and only four young scholars are accepted into each. Currently, the program is holding steady at about eighty graduate students; a number that facilitates active collaboration between students and faculty members, both inside and outside the department of Psychology. According to U.S. News and World Report, the program ranks among the top seventy five schools in the nation. Unlike many schools, both a terminal master’s and a doctoral degree are available.

M.A. in Clinical Psychology

Ph.D in Clinical Child Psychology

Those that are interested in a more integrated approach to areas of psychology might be happy to learn that the doctoral program in Clinical Child Psychology utilizes faculty and resources from two departmental areas of specialization, Clinical Psychology and Clinical Child Psychology. Based on the scientist-practitioner approach, students in this program will learn how to conduct empirical research and engaging in applied assessment with young individuals.
