Ph.D. in Learning Sciences

The PhD in Learning Sciences is focused on research, analysis and application in the scientific processes of the practice of teaching and learning. It is interdisciplinary in nature and project-centered in execution. There is special focus given to the design of learning environments to facilitate reform in the educational system.

Master of Science in Education

This degree program includes coursework, field experiences, and a culminating project. The concentration areas to choose from are Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Advanced Teaching and Gifted Concentration in Advanced Teaching. The Elementary Education and Secondary Education MS degrees lead to Illinois teaching certification while the other two explore advanced teaching methods and research into the student's field of expertise.

PhD in Education

Students pursuing a PhD in Education are expected to begin research and scholarly activities early in the program. The coursework for the doctoral degree is planned out with an advisor to fit the goals of the student, but includes core doctoral courses, specialization classes, comprehensive exams, and a dissertation.

Master of Education with Teacher Certification

For this MEd degree, students choose a specialization in Early Childhood, Elementary Education, or Secondary Education. The components of the degree are decided on by the student and an advisor. Coursework in Educational Psychology, Social Foundations of Education, Philosophical Foundations of Education, Research, and a culminating project or experience are required.
