University of Kentucky Advanced Practice Nursing Program

Starting in the fall of 2009, the University of Kentucky no longer offers a Master of Science in Nursing degree. In place of that program, the University of Kentucky now offers a post-Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing degree. The program is intended to prepare qualified students for the Doctorate of Nursing Practice Degree program specializing in advanced practices, nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, public health nursing, and nurse managers. Northern Kentucky University will soon offer at least options for the working nurse seeking a Master of Science in Nursing. One program offers a concentration in Nurse Executive Leadership and takes an interdisciplinary approach to prepare nurses for leadership roles in healthcare. The Doctorate of Nursing Practice is not yet up and running but will be a part time post-masters degree program of about 40 credit hours.
