List of Masters & Graduate Degrees in Business Field

  1. Master of Business Administration (MBA): This is the signature degree for all graduate students who wish to venture into the business world as executives.
  2. MBA - Entrepreneurial Management has become a mainstream MBA option, in part because of the Silicon Valley bubble of the late 1990s that saw many startup businesses run by computer experts go into IPO without a business plan. University of Pennsylvania offers this track at its Wharton School of Business.
  3. MBA - Strategic Management provides business case management study for a variety of decision making points: capital costs, operations and personnel, budget management, tax management and overall business planning. The University of North Texas in Dallas offers a blended program that provides about half the classes online.
  4. MBA - Global Management has become one of the timeliest academic tracks in the MBA world. Stanford University Graduate School of Business has developed an elaborate program that includes study abroad, as do many of the international business MBA programs.
  5. Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) is a popular option for business executives who want some additional training and an additional credential to move up the management ladder. Usually it's a one year program, often offered as evening courses. The Northwestern University EMBA Program is an example of a flexibly scheduled, globally oriented program for mid level and senior executives.

  11. Master of Finance (MFin) can be an option to the MBA for students who are seeking a career in the financial markets or in corporate financial management. It doesn't carry the cultural weight of an MBA but it is often just as valuable on the resume. The MIT Sloan School of Management has a program in MFin
  12. Master of International Business (MIB) is a graduate degree alternative to the MBA for people who expect to focus on the global marketplace as a profession. Tufts University has developed an MIB degree that is offered through the Fletcher School of International Affairs.

Today that field includes all of the basic banking services plus securities, annuities, and larger business functions such as mergers. St. Josephs University has a two year program for this degree.
  15. Master of Marketing Research (MSMR) can often be the choice of a college graduate returning to school to develop new skills in line with changes in the business world. Marketing has changed drastically with the advent of the Web as an advertising and sales tool. The program at the University of Texas/Arlington treats the MSMR as an opportunity for business networking as well as business training.
  16. Master of Real Estate (MScRE) is offered by New York University, in what is certainly the nation's most complex real estate market. 17. Master in Sustainable Business (MSB) provides graduate leadership training for professionals who have realized that sustainable business practices can also improve the bottom line. Aquinas College in Michigan offers an MSB program that is available in an evening format.
  18. Master of Management (MM or MSM) is an alternative to the MBA offered by colleges that want to provide business management training at a graduate level without all of the noise and expense associated with a business school and an MBA program. Several masters-level colleges with excellent reputations around the country offer this program.
  19. Master of Information Technology (MSIT) sounds like a technology degree, which it is, but it is also essential training for corporate CIOs or Chief Information Officers. 20. Master of Management - Risk Management is principally a degree for students interested in the insurance industry, but risk management is also an important corporate function.
