University of Maine Graduate Social Work Programs
The University of Maine’s School of Social Work was ranked 82nd out of 278 graduate social work programs according to US News and World Report’s 2008 rankings list.
Master of Social Work
A student studying to receive a Master of Social Work can expect to be required to demonstrate knowledge of discrimination and oppression within his or her own practices as a social worker. The roles of injustice in everyday society will be focused upon within the courses the student attends. The student will apply these teachings to their own understandings in research papers, assignments, and fieldwork. Extensive studies on types of discrimination, problems of discrimination, and solutions to discrimination will be addressed during the student’s schooling.

University of New England School of Social Work Graduate Programs
The University of New England boasts two campuses, one in Biddeford and one in Portland. Online degree options for MSW programs are also available. The School of Social Work enjoys full accreditation by the Counsel on Social Work Education to offer MSW degree programs to graduate students.
Master of Social Work
Qualified graduate students of MSW will demonstrate the ability to resolve ethical problems by using critical thinking and higher order thinking skills. The students will use their education and knowledge to solve dilemmas within their own concentration and community. They will need to display an understanding of diversity in values, beliefs, and trends that will increase the chances of change within the community. Written documentation of actions taken towards change (positive or negative) will be required as a form of assessment for the completion of the degree program.
