Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Graduate Engineering Programs

Masters of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering

This is a five-year program that begins with a bachelor's degree in science or engineering and culminates in a Master of Biomedical Engineering. Students must complete a thesis, design or development with original research.

Master of Engineering in Civil and Environmental Engineering

This is a nine-month program for students who have already earned their bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field. An additional depth is added to student's current engineering knowledge.

Doctor of Science in Materials Science and Engineering

Those who are accepted into this program work closely with faculty members to complete a research project of significant impact. A high level of emphasis is placed on the thesis, which can be published in a scientific literature if it is deemed of significant enough importance.

Northeastern University's Graduate Engineering Programs

This private research university was founded in 1898. After a few changes, it reached its current name in 1935. More than 24,000 students attend NU, and more than a quarter of them are graduate students. All incoming freshmen are from the US.

Master of Science in Environmental Engineering

You can choose to specialize in one of a few areas including the treatment and disposal of water and wastewater, watershed management, hazardous waste, and groundwater remediation and protection. Courses include Environmental Chemistry, Environmental Biological Processes, and Hydrology.

Master of Science in Structural Engineering

Courses in structural analysis and design are included in this degree. Other courses include Seismic Analysis and Design, Bridge Design and Behavior of Steel Structures.

Master of Science in Transportation Engineering

Core courses in this program are supported by related courses in math, engineering, economics, policy, and management. Specific class titles include Public Transportation, Statistical Methods in Engineering, and Transportation Performance Models.
