Masters in Education Schools
The Master's in Education is one of the graduate programs that has retained a lot of the traditional trappings that graduate degrees once maintained as a stepping stone to the doctoral level. The options for career tracks in the MEd have expanded dramatically as the degree has become a terminal option and an important addition to the resume for education careerists. Educators who wish to work in instructional development, as a school administrator or principal, or in the field of curriculum and instruction generally need to complete a MEd or as offered in some schools, the MS in Education or the MA in Education. Despite the development of the Master of Arts in Teaching, the MEd remains an important graduate program that offers an altogether different perspective on elementary and secondary education than does the teaching degree.
