Masters in Emergency Nursing

Patients who are critically ill or face a suddenly life-threatening situation are unstable and highly vulnerable. Immediate care is often required to set the patient at ease or at least physically stabilize them. With the attainment of a Masters in Emergency Nursing, you will become highly trained in treating these kinds of desperate patients. Subjects included in your training are the knowledge of emergency treatment procedures, learning how to keep patients informed so they make the right decisions, obtaining care and overseeing it, contacting family members and acting in the best interest of the patient.

If you have a caring personality and are able to handle urgent situations calmly, you could have what it takes to become an emergency nurse. You may have a busy schedule working during the day or taking care of a family. Even if this describes your situation, you can enjoy furthering your education by taking online courses. More and more students are taking advantage of this convenient option.

In order to obtain a career in emergency nursing, you must hold a state license in Registered Nursing. This requires at least an associate’s or bachelor’s degree, but a master’s degree will set you above the competition and set up you for success. Nearly three out of five emergency nurses work in hospitals. The remaining work in sports centers, health clinics and educational centers. Your responsibilities after completing Emergency Nursing Master’s Programs include helping doctors, monitoring patients and assisting in the transportation of patients. Since a high turnover is occurring in the industry, the need for emergency nurses will increase in the coming years. Nurses working in hospitals make, on average, a little under $60,000 annually, based on a report made by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.
