Jackson State University's Graduate Engineering Program

Jackson State was founded in 1877. It was originally established as a college for African Americans. Its first year had only 20 enrolled students, but today enrollment approaches 9,000 students. 23% of those attending are there for graduate studies.

Masters of Science in Engineering

You can tailor your degree to you by choosing an emphasis area from the following: Civil, Environmental, Computer, Electrical, Telecommunications and Geological Engineering. The courses you take will differ depending on which emphasis you choose. Located in Starkville, Mississippi, MSU is a university that grants doctoral degrees to scholarly individuals willing to apply themselves. Undergraduate and master's degree are offered as well. 17,000 people are enrolled here and 23% of students are pursuing graduate degrees.

Masters Degree in Civil Engineering

You have the choice of specializing in seven different areas, including Construction Engineering and Management, Environmental Engineering, Structural Engineering and Transportation Engineering, among others. Classes you can expect to take include Project Management, Operations Research, Theory of Continuous Media, and Hydromechanics.

Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical Engineering

To be admitted, you need to have earned your bachelor's degree with a 3.5 GPA or higher. A qualifying exam is required as well, which covers all your undergraduate work in the engineering field. A large part of your studies will be devoted to a dissertation and the necessary research to complete it.

Mechanical Engineering Graduate Program

Two tracks are available to you. The first is the thesis track that requires 24 hours of coursework plus a 6-credit thesis. The second 33 hours of only coursework.

University of Mississippi's Graduate Engineering Programs

Established in 1848, Ole Miss is a nickname of this university, which was earned in 1897. More than 1,000 acres of land make up the campus where 15,000 students are enrolled. 17% of the student body is comprised of graduate students.

Master of Science in Chemical Engineering

For completion of this program, you must finish 24 credit hours in coursework and 6 credit hours toward a thesis. 12 of your credits must come from advanced transport phenomena, thermodynamics, and reactor design. Another three credits come from seminars.

PhD Degree, Electrical Engineering Emphasis

You need to complete 12 credits of coursework in an area like math or physics and 36 credits in electrical engineering to total 48 credits altogether. Your dissertation is an incredibly important part of your studies.
