Montana State University College of Education, Health, and Human Development:

This is considered one of the major professional training centers in the state of Montana and one of the most well respected in the country. The college offers a number of degrees and concentrations for students who interested in beginning careers in the human services. The school offers a number of local internships and clinical research opportunities for students who want to practically apply the theories and methods they learn in the classroom. The college also grants students access to some of the most current research methods and databases. Students have access to a number of research programs. They also have access to an experienced and dedicated faculty, made up of experienced professionals and scholars who work with students to help them get the right footing when it comes to beginning their careers. The school offers a number of programs for working professionals who cannot enroll in full-time graduate degree programs.

Master of Science in Marriage and Family Counseling:

This is a graduate degree for students who would like to explore concepts, theories, issues, and career options in the field of family counseling. Students begin the program by taking a number of core counseling classes. Students learn about popular and relevant theories of behavior and counseling methods. Students also study statistics, case studies, and empirical data relevant to today's family structures. Students are given a number of clinical research and internship opportunities. They work in local organizations and agencies and learn the field from an experiential viewpoint. Students complete independent research projects and master's thesis papers. Students who complete this program are qualified to occupy entry-level counseling positions. They also go on to become advisors and policy writers in a number of different contexts, such as government agencies and public service organizations. They may also apply to PhD degree programs.

Master of Science in School Counseling:

This graduate degree program is directed toward qualified students who would like to learn advanced methods and practices in the world of school counseling. Students choose individual areas of concentration, such as elementary school or secondary school counseling. Students may also choose to work with students who suffer from mental conditions and handicaps. Students learn about key issues and theories in the field through a series of lectures, discussions, and reading groups. Students also participate in clinical research and professional internships that prepare them for their careers. Students learn to analyze a number of different kinds of data, such as empirical, clinical, and statistical data. Students also learn methods of practical application. Students complete independent research and master's thesis papers with the help of carefully chosen faculty advisors. Students who successfully complete this program become school counselors and advisors. They may also serve in administrative roles and pursue PhD degrees.
