The program offers a wide variety of concentrations related to the social work field for undergraduate and graduate students. The school works closely with a number of different community organizations and groups to ensure that students are a part of the field in a real, experiential way. Master of Social Work:

Students learn through coursework many of the issues facing communities across the country. Students concentrate on study underdeveloped and suffering communities. They study the effects of poverty and discrimination through the use of cutting-edge research methods. They use this research to a practical end by going out in the field. Students are required to work one-on-one with recipients of social work. They get involved in community efforts. This work not only adds to the students' understanding of today's social work profession, but also allows the students and the university to work closely with communities and build a lasting relationship. Students will pick individual concentrations of study. They will then begin to work closely with faculty advisors who guide students toward a practical understanding and ability to apply these ideas. Students go into the field prepared to work using the theories and ideas developed and understood through group work and course work. Students who complete this program often serve in a number of positions in the government or in community organizations. Many students who complete this program will go on to complete PhD programs in similar areas of study. This step will also prepare students to teach at the university level.

PhD in Social Work:

This program is for graduate students who would like to teach the subject at the college level. Most students will enter this program with a master degree in social work. Students begin with an advanced education of core subjects, such as family and community development, social inequality, and policy analysis. Once the core of the program is completed, students begin on independent projects that are relevant to their individual concentrations. Students will also have the opportunity to teach. They will do field work and study and analyze various social data and social programs. Students who complete this program often secure faculty positions in prestigious universities. Others will hold high profile positions in a number of different government organizations. Students who complete this program will also form their own groups and organizations based on the core understanding of contemporary theories learned in the program.
