Students are prepared for advancement in their field as well as given the skills and knowledge needed to work with a diverse group of people with the goal of improving the social condition of all.

Master of Social Work

The MSW program at Portland State University is available both onsite and online. Graduates of this 78 credit hour program will be prepared to enter high level careers in the industry. Students can concentrate in Direct Human Services, Community based Practices, or Social Service Administration or Leadership.

Ph. D in Social Work

Students of the Ph. D in Social Work program learn skills needed to be effective researchers and analysts, to understand social welfare problems, build and run social programs, be administrators in human service organizations, and teach social work academics. Curriculum is designed around the students' course of study and dissertation research.
