The University of Phoenix is far and away the largest for-profit professional university in the world. UOP operates over 200 campuses worldwide. The online education system is the largest in the world as well and among all venues, the University enrolls about over 400,000 undergraduate students and about 75,000 graduate students. A school that operates on such an enormous scale has the opportunity to develop unique services, and UOP has done so on a variety of fronts.

UOP operates in forty states within the U.S. as well as in Puerto Rico, Canada, Mexico, Chile, and the Netherlands. There are also facilities available for online students that provide counseling services, tutoring and meeting places for online classmates. There are seven colleges within the UOP framework offering traditional degrees. There are also continuing education programs available through UOP along with certificate programs, professional development programs for businesses, and specialized courses of study for military personnel.

UOP has gone to some lengths to achieve accreditation for its undergraduate and graduate programs. The University itself has been accredited since 1978. Graduate options include degrees in business, nursing, technology, criminal justice, human services, psychology, and arts & sciences. Degree options range from associates to doctorate, with each school or college offering certificate programs for professionals who are seeking specific academic training rather than a degree program.
