Q: PhD in Organizational/Industrial Psychology?
A: *Other than Rice University and Texas A&M University, I am aware of only two other institutions of higher education IN TEXAS that offer a Ph.D. program in Organizational-- Industrial Psychology. I do not regard either alternative to be "selective," but each has the requisite accreditation:

University of Houston - Please see:nhttp://www.siop.org/gtp/gtpDisplay.asp?program=60

University of North Texas - Please see:nhttp://www.siop.org/gtp/gtpDisplay.asp?program=9

n*There are a variety of superb I-O graduate programs at highly selective institutions of higher education. I shall not attempt to list them here; however, I recommend that you use the resources of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Inc.nThe home page is http://www.siop.org/default.aspx

That organization provides several services, one of which is a search engine at which you may discover where Graduate Training Programs in Industrial-Organizational Psychology are found. The site does not ignore "rankings." Please see:nhttp://www.siop.org/GTP/

[*Well, perhaps I can provide a "short-list" of institutions that come to mind: University of Maryland at College Park, Michigan State University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, The Ohio State University, Stanford University, University of Ilinois at Urbana-Champaign.]

Good Luck!

  • Can I get into the University of Michigan, UCLA, USC, Pepperdine, the University of Texas, and/or Baylor? I think you are on your way to all of these schools. UCLA and USC are always unpredictable though, my friend was in the top ten at my school and did not get into UCLA or USC, and he was from California.
  • Does this Essay stand up to a College Grade level? I like that you have a structure lined out already with alternatives in case the OBE fails. nHowever, college professors want to see an analysis of a topic, not just an argument.

You must include both sides of every situation and show a tidbit about how OBE can be seen as a success (otherwise why would it be enacted in the first place?)nAlso, do you have references to support these statements?nCollege essays are rarely 5-paragraph essays. This also depends on how long of a paper is required. nThis will probably not fill up more than three pages maximum without repetition or BS.nTry to find some evidence of the opposing stance, refute it, and add more supporting information and you'll do great!
  • What college should I attend? I am interested in getting my MBA? Among the best business schools in the country are the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, and the business school of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. UTexas also has the McCombs school which is ranked pretty high.

  • Do I have a good lucrative degree? I think you have a general degree. You would have done better had you chosen something more specific. For example accounting, financing etc. You would probably be more competitive in the workforce. Unfortunately in this economy it is hard for anybody to find a job.Your degree is just too general. I commend anybody that goes to college and finishes so you obviously are intelligent. And I agree with you about business statistics and all those other classes they are not easy classes. I sucked in the lowest econ class..lol
