5 Master of Management Schools

Seeking out a Masters in Management degree may require that you choose between a MBA program which offers specialization in management, or a program that offers the degree apart from the MBA and all of the business administration training that goes with it. Many Masters in Management programs offer areas of concentration, but the difference from the MBA lies in the core courses. MOM students focus on the theory of management, on the management requirements for various business models, and often on the management skills needed for various internal corporate departments such as human resources or operations. The MBA has established value in the employment market, but there is an overload of MBA graduates looking for jobs as well. The Masters in Management is one alternative to set yourself apart from other entry level applicants for business management positions.

  • Liberty University has a large online education program to match its large and heavily populated campus in Virginia. The Master of Arts in Management and Leadership is a blended program that requires some on-campus presence for what the university terms as "intensives." Generally that means a few days on campus in seminars that are rigorous and efficient. Liberty's MA in Management & Leadership program stresses the administrative and leadership skills that a student entering the workforce can apply at the middle management level in order to gain the experience to move up. One of the components of the program is field experience, wherein the student is placed in a management role under supervision, with a company that has partnered with Liberty University.
  • University of Maryland University College has an extraordinary Master of Science in Management program that is offered online or through one of the College classroom locations. There are areas of specialization in fifteen academic areas that include a variety of professions. Those options at UMUC include Accounting, Acquisition and Supply Chain Management, Criminal Justice Management, Emergency Management, Financial Management, Health Care Administration, Homeland Security, Human Resources, Information Systems & Services, Intelligence Management, Interdisciplinary Studies in Management, Marketing, Nonprofit & Association Management, Project Management, and Public Relations.
  • Kaplan University offers the Master of Science in Management with several areas of concentration available. The degree includes core courses in Strategic Financial Analysis, Organizational Change, Human Resource Management, and Action Research & Consulting Skills. Each area of concentration includes 4 four unit courses that complement the baseline academic requirements. The areas of concentration include Health Care Management, Human Resources, Information Technology, Leadership, Organizational Development & Design, Project Management, and Supply Chain Logistics & Management.
  • Benedictine University has a Master of Science in Management and Organizational Behavior offered as a cross-disciplinary degree that is available online and on the campus in DuPage County, Illinois. The MSMOB as it is titled has several academic areas folded into the curriculum that are offered as areas of concentration in other MOM degree programs, making this a well rounded option for the field. Courses include instruction in Strategic Planning, Information Management, Team Building & Conflict Management, Organizational Research Methods, International Organization Development.
  • Globe University has the Minnesota School of Business within its academic structure, which is comprised of twenty campuses located in Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota. The Master of Science in Management (MSM) is offered through the campuses and as an online option. The program accepts students at six week intervals throughout the year; the administration makes a proactive effort to work with foreign students who wish to obtain their degree in this country and work here. The MSM at Minnesota School of Business has three areas of concentration for three professional tracks: Information Technology, Healthcare Management, and Managerial Leadership.
