There are few other ranking surveys for online institutions that can be credibly cited as an objective source. The Online Education Database (OEDb) gives Walden an overall rank of 14th among all online institutions in the U.S. The metrics for that survey noted that Walden ranked very high in Peer Web Citations and in Scholarly Citations.

Regional Accreditation: Walden is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCACS). This is one of six regional accrediting bodies recognized by the Commission on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and the U.S. Department of Education. Walden receives national accreditation from this organization because the University is based in Minnesota.

Counseling Accreditation: The Master of Mental Health Counseling degree is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).

Nursing Accreditation: The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

Walden is a member of the Academy for Assessment of Student Learning, sponsored by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
