University of Wisconsin Graduate Degree Programs in Finance
The University of Wisconsin was established in 1848 by a clause in the Wisconsin Constitution calling for a public university. Classes began in 1849. School is driven by the "Wisconsin Idea" begun in 1904 in which the then-president of the school decreed that every home in Wisconsin should have access to the benefits of the university.
Master of Business Administration: Finance, Investment, and Banking
Graduate students with an interest in corporate finance and investment banking are prepared through the MBA program to become corporate financial officers, financial consultants, or investment bankers. Courses include operations management, financial accounting, valuation and investment decisions, raising capital, marketing, data decisions, and organizational behavior. This degree program has been ranked in the top 30 for financial specialties by Business Week.
PhD in Finance, Investment, and Banking
For qualified graduate students, a PhD in Finance provides the opportunity to grow research skills and analytical thinking to pursue a career in financial research or university teaching positions. Financial and economic theory are at the heart of this degree program. Coursework includes theory of finance, investments, corporate finance, econometrics, statistics, as well as micro and macroeconomic theory. Prior to being approved for dissertation status, students must complete a summer paper and a preliminary financial examination. An oral defense of the student's dissertation is also required prior to the granting of a degree.
