Wyoming Graduate Engineering Schools with Master’s and PhD Degree Programs
The University of Wyoming’s College of Engineering and Applied Science is ranked 137th in the Nation. Although the school only houses about 200 graduate students, the school is dedicated to providing students with a high quality education. To meet the needs of its diverse student population, there are a variety of degree programs available. Here is a sampling of what is available.
Master of Science in Architectural Engineering
Students who enroll in this degree program can choose an area of specialization in structural or mechanical systems. Students will complete core and elective courses in addition to conducting research geared towards their area of specialization.
Master of Science in Chemical Engineering
This degree program prepares students for a career in chemical engineering. Students who enroll in this degree program are required to take core courses in chemistry, mathematics, physics, unit operations and biology. They must also take lab courses and conduct research.
Master of Science in Civil Engineering
Students who enroll in this degree program can specialize in five areas of specialization: Transportation, Structural, Surveying, Environmental, Geotechnical and Water Resources Engineering. A custom plan of study and courses are geared towards the student’s area of specialization.
Master of Science in Computer Engineering
Those who enroll in this degree program will focus on mathematics, hardware and software associated with computers and micro processing. They will also work in laboratories to gain hands on experience.
Master of Science in Electrical Engineering
Students will take courses in mathematics, basic engineering sciences, communications, computer networks, electromagnetics and control systems, robotics and microcircuits. In addition, they will conduct laboratory research.
Doctor of Philosophy in Architectural Engineering
This degree program allows students to choose an area of specialization in structural or mechanical systems. Core and elective courses will be geared towards this area of specialization. In addition, students will need to prepare and defend a dissertation.
Doctor of Philosophy in Chemical Engineering
This degree program requires its students to take courses in chemistry, physics, engineering, mathematics and unit operations. They must also conduct research to prepare and defend an original dissertation.
Doctor of Philosophy in Civil Engineering
This degree program has five areas of specialization. Students can specialize in Transportation, Structural, Surveying, Environmental, Geotechnical and Water Resources Engineering. To help students decide what courses they need to take to gain enough in the field, a study plan will be created. In addition to completing courses related to their specialization, students must prepare and defend an original dissertation.
Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Engineering
In addition to conducting lab experiments and taking courses in mathematics, hardware and software, students must create and defend an original dissertation.
Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical Engineering
In addition to taking courses in mathematics, basic engineering sciences, communications, robotics and microcircuits and conducting research, students will prepare and defend a dissertation.
